Greenmead Community Garden Plots

This year Vic and I rented a garden plot (24 x 24) for $25 at Greenmead Community Gardens.

It has been a lot of hard work but we are really having some fun with it.

There are about 240 rented garden plots.
That's a lot of organic veggies growing!









We planted: red & yellow onions, celery (cause Vic thought it was parsley when he bought it), squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, bush beans, green & red peppers, swiss chard, cabbage, broccoli, spinach, several different kinds of lettuce, carrots & different kinds of hot peppers.


This is a picture of our plot soon after we planted. The soil has a lot of clay in it. There is water available by hose and lots of sun! We are going to have a rain barrel.

Walked the beautiful nature trails. Saw a big blue butterfly, turtles and at one point we thought we saw a fox but turned out to be an orange cat.

The Conservatory has three climatic houses: tropical, warm-temperate, and arid. Saw many different species and they had lots of different orchids.

Bought a gardeners hat at the gift shop. I always wanted one. Now I need a garden.

Went into town (Ann Arbor) and ate at the famous Zingermans Deli. Vic and I both agreed that the Bread Basket (in Livonia) is better. They use sliced bread which makes it easier to eat and they give you way more meat. I have to use a fork cause its so fricken huge!! I love Rubens.
